NDCL announces plans for major campus enhancements in 2012

NDCL announces plans to cut ribbons on major campus enhancements in 2012

NDCL's campus will transform in 2012 as we move forward with three exciting enhancements to our vibrant campus of faith and learning.
  • Lion Stadium Initiative includes a synthetic turf field and a new all-weather track to showcase this focal point of our campus for athletic and other activities.
  • The Capstone Projects

    • Performing Arts Center will provide a professional venue for our drama and music programs as well as assemblies and ceremonies throughout the school year.

    • New Athletic Facility will feature more than 8,000 square feet of practice and competition space for our student-athletes in all sports seasons.
These three initiatives represent a $3.7 million dollar investment in NDCL as we strive to live our mission to educate leaders who transform the world, as Jesus did, by living the truth in love.

NDCL Fund Phonathon

Junior Jimmy Vanek was one of the top callers in this year's Phonathon
Thank you  NDCL alumni and friends who generously supported the NDCL Fund Phonathon earlier this month. NDCL students manned the phones and collected 323 pledges in just 4 nights!

In addition to connecting with alumni, our students earned real-world sales experience.  The Phonathon is just a part of our effort to reach our goal of raising $285,000 for this year's NDCL Fund.

The NDCL Fund is our annual giving program designed to fund scholarships and assistance for NDCL students. Support of the NDCL fund allows students to share fully in the NDCL experience.

NDCL's Seventh Annual Career Week

Nadine Nocero '04 described her career as a Marketing & Social Media Coordinator at Keller Williams Realty to NDCL juniors and seniors during the arts and communications session of our Seventh Annual Career Week.

35 professionals were on campus Nov 14-17 for NDCL's Annual Career Week.  Kimm Leininger, Executive Director of the United Way, Geauga County, kicked off the week with a Keynote Address focusing on broadening horizons, including balancing family and work responsibilities, service to the community, and doing what you believe in.

NDCL juniors and seniors had the option to attend up to 3 of 7 career clusters--business, science and engineering, healthcare, IT, arts and communications, education and social services, and legal and government.  Our guests included representatives from our parent and alumni groups, and community leaders from organizations such as University Hospitals, Precision Orthopaedics, Kinetico, and Hyland Software.

Career Week is a joint venture sponsored by NDCL's Advancement Office and the Office of College, Counseling, and Support Services.

NDCL Alumni Fall Service Day a Hit!

24 NDCL alumni and students "blitzed" four homes in Geauga County in the NDCL Alumni Association's 3rd Annual Fall Service Day on October 29th.  Although the day started out with light frost, the hard work done by the volunteers soon turned frost into sweat as the group raked leaves, moved woodpiles, cleaned gutters, and other small tasks for senior citizens in the county.

Joe Watrobski `98 says, "The Fall Service Day was another success for the NDCL Alumni Association and the community. I love being a part of these events because you get to see familiar faces, meet alumni from other classes and interact with current students. It's the perfect way to give back, network with colleagues and provide a good example to future alumni."

The group bused from NDCL to the various sites and concluded with lunch at NDCL.  Thank you to all those that participated and we look forward to helping more residents next year!

NDCL Fall Service Day is October 29th

We need you on Saturday, October 29th for the NDCL Alumni Association's 3rd Annual Fall Service Day.  We do "fall cleanup" for senior citizens in Geauga County from 9am to 1pm.

Our goal is to have 40 volunteers "blitz" 3 or 4 homes in the area.  We'll rake leaves, clear flower beds, and other small outdoor projects for these folks.

Meet at NDCL at 8:30 for coffee, juice, bagels, and doughnuts.  Bring rakes, tarps, gloves, etc.  Lunch provided around 1pm.  Spouses and children welcome!

E-mail keven.krajnak@ndcl.org to volunteer.  We already have about 20 signed up and need about 20 more.  Great chance to make an impact on our community and enjoy alumni camaraderie!

NDCL Golf Classic another smash hit!

We are coming off another successful NDCL Golf Classic--our eleventh--on Monday July 18th.  Although we were down on players, those that were there were quite spirited even in the heat of the day!

Our sponsors were high again and because of that we netted $14,500 that go directly to scholarships for NDCL students.  The photo gallery is on the NDCL webpage, and we're starting to plan for next year.  Date will be on the golf page soon.  The winning foursome is All for You Janitorial, one of our corporate partners.  Tim O'Donnell, Joe Krajnyak, Rich Krajnyak, and Mark O'Donnell one the tiebreaker with Coach Wally's group to take the trophy.

On another note, stay tuned later this summer for a redesigned homepage for www.ndcl.org.  We are working hard on a cleaner, more user-friendly homepage for the start of the school year.

Summer is here

Empty hallways mean that summer is here at NDCL.  Students' last day was May 27th.  So that means plans for the 11th Annual NDCL Golf Classic begin in earnest.  Congrats to Stephen Fening `97 for winning the early-bird raffle prize of $250.  His name was pulled from all those registered by Memorial Day.

By the way, save the date of July 22nd for NDCL Alumni/Family Night with the Lake County Captains.  Fireworks after the game.  Click here to access the order form.

NDCL Baseball and Softball

NDCL Lions softball team is off to a blistering start--14 and 2 through May 9th.  Baseball is 9-5 after an Easter trip to Myrtle Beach.  The nasty spring weather has been no help at all, but the teams are doing just fine now that we have some sunshine!

Spring schedules are always up in the air, so call the school about any of the upcoming games.  Coach Clark and Coach McParland and the teams sure would like to see you.
